Right now, the Android high-end 5.5 inch available are Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. At first glance, these phones appear to compare. Both have 12 MP cameras, Quad HD panels, and high-end processors. Price for them is also close to comparison. However, when looking at performance, software, and design, they differ. When compared to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, we are here to tell you the Google Pixel XL pros and cons.

Design

Similar build materials are featured with both smartphones, but the look and feel of them are quite different. The Google Pixel XL has a construction which is full metal unibody, without considering the glass window located on the back. With this great look, Pixel has the look of an iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is best in design with its sweeping curves and streamlined chassis. The aesthetics are greater with Samsung when compared to any smartphone available today.

In addition to the beauty, Samsung is water resistant, which means it will remain safe if accidently dropped in a puddle, pool, or sink. Unfortunately, in similar water accidents, the Pixel would have a fatal end.

Display

Technology for display with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge surpasses Google Pixel XL, particularly with AMOLED.  Both smartphones have Quad HD resolutions with 5.5-inch displays and 1440 x 2560 pixels’ resolution that has a look which is both vibrant and sharp with great color, contrast, and brightness. Also, the displays on both have no issues for viewing outdoors.

The main difference when considering display is Samsung’s curved display and Googles flat screen. With AMOLED screen, Samsung comes out on top with the Always On display. This feature can display notifications, a calendar, and a clock. Although Google does not have this feature, you will receive ambient notifications.

Hardware

The Samsung and Pixel both come with fingerprint scanners which are placed in different locations. Samsung is located on the front of case embedded into the home button, while the Pixel has it located on the back of the case. Depending on preferences, there are pros and cons for both placements. The fingerprint scanners for both smartphones are quick and accurate.

Batteries for both are similar with 3450 mAh and 3600 mAh, giving them the ability to last all day. Also, Galaxy allows for wireless charging while Pixel does not have this option.

Expandable storage with Samsung allows for up to an additional 256 GB via microSD while Google users must rely on the cloud or opt for a premium to get a storage option of 128 GB.

Performance

Both smartphones have 4 GB RAM. Samsung has Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor while Pixel has Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Pixel outdoes Samsung as well as any other Android smartphones in performance.

It is our opinion that Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has the lead due to these along with other features compared.

Android fans understand, after using their device for some time, performance seems to diminish. This is especially true for users that pack their device with Play store apps. This is due to the lack of memory and unnecessary apps running, which happens with all major O/S. However, there are some ways to speed up your device and get back that amazing experience.

To enhance your Android device performance, here are some incredible tips for you to try:

Memory Cleaner: Google Play Store has memory cleaner apps to download and install on your device. These cleaners delete junk files as well as clear memory on your Android. Clean Master is the one most recommended and is simple to use.

Up-to-Date Android Firmware: Be sure your Android device is updated with the latest firmware. By doing this, you are ensured to gain access to new releases and enhancements of Android. Google updates, features, performance, and stability become available to you by staying up-to-date with the Android firmware.

Up-to-Date Apps: Play Store apps receive updates regularly to repair any issues and to also add features to an app’s latest version. By keeping your apps up-to-date, you will get the best performance and speed available.

Manage Unwanted Apps: Android apps use space and reduce speed on your device due to their background processes running. Remove any apps you do not need or use often to speed up your devices performance. Also, if you want to keep the app but want to performance, it can be disabled by “Performance assistant.” By disabling the app, files are not changed or removed and can be re-enabled at any time.

High-Speed Memory Card: Your Android device major storage is the memory card. To add more space and speed to your device, it is preferred to use high-speed memory cards, such as Class 6 or Class 10.

No Live Wallpapers: Avoid using live wallpapers. Unfortunately, this great feature drains battery life and utilizes a lot of processes.

Fewer Widgets: Even though widgets can be fun, they can use up memory. When widgets do not run in the background, they still remain active. Due to this reason, try using only widgets which are necessary.

Automatic Syncing Off: When using syncing for your Android, you are notified when you receive an update or new email because of the device checking at different intervals. This uses a battery and slows down performance. Turn off automatic syncing.

Root Android Device: This is a way to speed up an Android device dramatically to see a significant performance improvement. Root of an Android device should only be done by a professional with knowledge and experience.

You should see a definite enhancement in performance after applying these tips to your Android device.

Know More About Android N

Android has been here several years now, but Google still finds ways to improve and enhance the OS. Some ways they are finding could have a substantial impact on how we use our tablet or phone. Later this summer we are expecting the full release of Android N, there are some important things you should know.

Graphics and Performance Boost

Due to many changes with Android N, you will notice a considerable boost with both everyday performance and gaming graphics. With the application program interface (API) of Vulkan 3D, game developers will now have the ability to take control of the GPU. Mobile game graphics now have a chance to become more amazing. According to Google, runtime speed is greatly improved as well.

Security Improvements

Your device with Android N will be improved significantly with security. This comes because of strengthened media framework and file-based encryption. You will notice security updates are now seamless.

There will be 2 system images in new devices which are built for the OS Android N, and latest updates will now be automatically downloaded and placed on the image which runs in the background. When the update is ready, your tablet or phone will then switch to the updated image and carry on. You are now protected against any new threats.

Split-Screens

It is time for split-screen capabilities to come to Android, with this already available on Samsung phones. You are able to use this with both phones and tablets and in both landscape and portrait orientation. The example in which Google showed was watching a recipe video on YouTube on one side, while the other had a shopping list where they were able to add items.

With Android N, picture-in-picture mode is coming to Android TV.

Recent Apps

Google has done research and learned most people have a tendency of returning to the last few apps they used recently. So, one of the changes you will notice with Android N is on your recent apps screen. Any apps in which you have not accessed for a while will be cleared automatically, making it simpler to locate games and other apps that you spend more time on.

Another enhancement coming with Android N is a long sought after button “clear all” for apps, which would be located in the top-right area of your screen. In addition, make multitasking faster and simpler than before by having the ability to switch to the last app used by double-tapping anywhere for the Recents button.

This is just a handful of the great features coming with Android N. Once the full release is available, you will truly see why Android is the best!
